Floyd Mayweather Delivers On His Word And Beats McGregor Within The Distance By Stoppage | 50-0
So one of the most anticipated fight of our generation finally happened as undefeated Floyd Mayweather took on UFC’s King Conor McGregor.
As we built up to the fight people had a lot of different opinions on how the fight would end and who would leave victorious. The boxing experts never had any doubts as it was mainly causal fans and followers of MMA that believed that McGregor would win.
On the night McGregor started how many of us expected by putting the pressure on Mayweather and caught him with some good shots especially an uppercut that landed clean but didn’t do much damage. Mayweather was composed from the start taking the first few rounds to work out an awkward opponent in McGregor which he is not used to facing.
McGregor was trying to use his size and strength advantage to bully Mayweather and went into auto pilot throwing some MMA style punches, some of which landed to the back of Floyd’s head. After the first 4-5 rounds McGregor began to get tired and was breathing very heavy out of his mouth. Mayweather then started to take full control doing as he pleased with McGregor doing what he does best.
Many expected the fight to be over before this point but McGregor showed his resilience and didn’t go down despite being wobbled a couple times in the fight by Mayweather. As the rounds went on McGregor become very fatigued and didn’t have much of a defence left and in the 8th round onwards Mayweather really put on the pressure.
By the 10th round it became to much and the referee stopped the fight as he believed McGregor was unable to continue any further.
This was an entertaining fight for sure and delivered much more than we expected. McGregor performed a lot better than many thought despite him getting tired early on but we have to remember he is used to a very different set of rules with the UFC.
In my opinion this fight was a lot more action packed the Mayweather’s fight with Pacman. Full credit has to go to Mayweather for delivering on his word promising to press and square off with McGregor and that there was no way this fight was going to the distance, which in itself would have been a massive victory for McGregor.
Mayweather has said this is his last fight and he will no loner compete in the ring but you can never say never when you have the ability to earn over 200 million for 1 bout.
Congratulations on both athletes for delivering an entertaining fight while also breaking records and making history.
